clinically supported, close to home.

A supported clinical pathway for suitable patients who need help to stop drinking, with the same clinical safety standards and the same daily nurse visits.

Community alcohol detox describes a medically supervised detox delivered in the patient's home or community setting, rather than in a hospital or residential unit. At Ash Rehab, our community detox programme offers the same clinical standard as our private service — GMC prescriber oversight, NMC nurse visits, CIWA-Ar monitoring — with a structure designed to be as accessible as possible for patients who are ready to stop drinking and have appropriate support in place.

Clinical suitability

Who is this service right for?

Who is community detox suitable for?

  • Patients with moderate physical dependence who have not had previous severe withdrawal complications
  • Patients with a stable and supportive home environment
  • Patients who are medically well enough to manage withdrawal safely at home with clinical support
  • Patients who are motivated and have at least one responsible adult present throughout
How it works

A clear, supported programme
from first call to discharge.

01

Confidential assessment by phone or video

A GMC-registered prescriber conducts a thorough clinical assessment covering withdrawal risk, physical and mental health, medication safety, and home environment suitability.

02

Blood test review before prescribing

All blood results are reviewed before any medication is initiated. Liver and kidney function are assessed as a clinical requirement.

03

Personalised detox plan

Your prescriber writes an individualised programme based on your assessment findings and blood results.

04

Daily nurse visits with CIWA-Ar monitoring

An NMC-registered nurse visits your home every day to monitor withdrawal severity, take vital signs, and communicate directly with your prescriber.

05

Relapse prevention & GP discharge summary

Before discharge, a written relapse-prevention plan is completed and a GP summary letter is sent to your doctor on completion of the programme.

Common questions

Frequently asked
questions.

Is community detox the same as home detox?+

Yes — in practice, community detox at Ash Rehab is delivered in your home with the same daily nurse visits and prescriber oversight. The clinical standard is identical.

Is a support person required?+

Yes. A responsible adult must be present throughout your detox. This is a clinical safety requirement.

Confidential video assessment from home
Find out if community detox is right for you.

A prescribing doctor.
From your sofa.

Your first assessment is a 25-minute video call with a GMC-registered prescriber. No waiting room, no clinic, no disclosure to anyone you have not chosen to tell. Four short questions, answered honestly, will tell us whether a home detox is the right setting for this moment in your life.
